To Be Global, Get a USA Office
We have a common expression in America... "Birds of a feather fly together." This simply means people typically associate with "people like them".
Certainly this is true in business. Think about it. The French prefer to deal with other French people. The Germans prefer to do business with Germans, the Indians with other Indians. It just makes sense. People feel more comfortable dealing with others who speak the same language, have the same cultural background, understand the "nuance" (if you have to look up the meaning of that word, then I have made my point very clearly) of the country and understand the "way we do business".
If you want to get more business in North America, you should at least have a USA telephone number, a USA address, and an American receptionist answering the phone. Put these on your web site, your business cards, and your sales materials.
Americans are much more likely to reach out to your company if you have a USA phone number and a USA address. And they feel more comfortable, more trusting, and your company is much more CREDIBLE if you have a USA presence.
Think about it.... a USA company has a need. They do a Google search and find your company's website. They want an answer fast, so they want to pick up the phone and make a call. It's 3:00 pm in New York. Woops! Sorry, your office is closed in Munich. Too bad. You might lose the business.
Or.... perhaps they look at your web site and see you have a USA telephone number. They dial. They get an American receptionist. They have a few basic questions. She takes their name and some company profile information and says she will have someone call them back first thing in the morning. The prospect feels good... one more thing off their desk. The receptionist sends you an e-mail and confirms that you made the follow-up call. DONE!
