AmeriStart CEO, Jim Worrell, Co-Chairs the Gaston Day School Green Team

Co-Chair of the GDS Green Team, Jim Worrell (AmeriStart CEO) assembles the new recycling containers that have arrived at the Gaston Day School.  Soon the GDS Green Team hopes to have 20 containers located around the

school collecting plastic and aluminum that previously was sent to the landfill.  Working closely with the Keeping Gastonia Beautiful, a branch of Keeping America Beautiful organization, they soon will also be recycling batteries, e-waste and cell phones.  Read More About Keeping America Beautiful

Hands on Charlotte is a local nonprofit volunteer service organization who recently organized a Treasure Hunt around Charlotte, the Queen City. Heidi Hillyard, Marketing Manager at AmeriStart, was one of the volunteers on team #2 who called themselves the "Charlotte Green Team". The treasure hunt included helping the community in various ways, from landscaping schools to discussions about alternate transportation. YMCA Corporate Cup

For the 30th year in a row, the Childress Klein YMCA and surrounding business community celebrated healthy competition  - all while giving back to the community through Community Outreach programs! The corporate cup consists of a half marathon and 5K race.

Several employees from AmeriStart attended and took part in this year's corporate cup.  They formed a team called "The Road Warriors" and ran throughout the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina. The team members from AmeriStart included Heidi Hillyard, Marketing Manager, Dick Tully, Account Manager, David Worrell, CFO, Marc Pitre, Director of Clean Technology, Jonathan Mark, Account Manager, and William Maxwell, Account Manager.

Habitat for Humanity

Due to increasing land prices and the scarcity of available land, Habitat Charlotte started researching ways that would allow the organization to best use its resources and serve more families at the same time.  Since this project was a success, Habitat Charlotte plans to integrate townhouse projects into its new construction model.  The organization is currently working on a second project in the Citiside neighborhood.

Habitat Charlotte held a dedication ceremony for its first ever townhouse unit on Saturday, March 7.  The four unit townhouse is located off Drury Drive in east Charlotte.  There were a few of AmeriStart employees who attended and took part in building this townhouse.  The volunteers included Heidi Hillyard, Marketing Manager, Jim Worrell, CEO, Guy Worth, CSO, and Jonathan Mark, Account Manager.
